Everyone has their vices. Most of pop culture is at least lampooned by the geek community (for the most part, they are also silently adulated!)

But everyone WE like is also quote unquote famous. Celebrity itself is overinflated egotism spread worldwide.

Comon.. we just went to the geek equivelant of the Oscars or something like that. There are movements and systems in our society that promote historical learning and education. Instead of shaking one's head at the collapse of society, shouldn't you be supporting the things that will rebuild it?

Even geekdom promotes learning and braodening one's horizons, applied properly.

In the first few days I was here at least three people told me that the nearest McDonald's to my dorm is the one where Ashlee Simpson was arrested. Some might argue that celebrities are the royals of the day, (in regards to people watching their every move), but the royals actually did something! I like Best Week Ever as much as the next schmuck, but I do agree with you that a line needs to be drawn.
