Ron Paul: A Retrospective.

By Chuck | June 19, 2008

A few days ago Ron Paul finally dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination. All the hippies and wackjobs that loved this man more then their own sanity are in a state of mourning. This is also a huge loss for me because, like Mike Gravel and Rudy “Noun, Verb, 9/11″ Giuliani, he was a constant source of easy comedy. Now I’ll actually have to focus my attacks on Old man McCain.
So here is to all the hippies who blindly supported him because he is pro-hemp and anti-war without a glance at the rest of his record.
And here is to you Ron Paul. Here is to the man that:

  • Voted NO on the Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act
  • Voted NO on establishing nationwide AMBER alert system for missing kids.
  • Voted NO on increasing minimum wage to $7.25.
  • Voted NO on establishing “network neutrality” (non-tiered Internet).
  • Voted NO on starting implementation of Kyoto Protocol.
  • Voted NO on raising CAFE standards; incentives for alternative fuels.
  • Voted NO on prohibiting oil drilling & development in ANWR.
  • Voted NO on keeping moratorium on drilling for oil offshore.
  • Voted YES on building a fence along the Mexican border.
  • Voted YES on banning gay adoptions in DC.
  • Is rated 0% by NARAL, indicating a pro-life voting record.
  • Is rated 5% by the LCV, indicating anti-environment votes.
  • Is rated 0% by the CAF, indicating opposition to energy independence.
  • Who would have guessed that stoned college kids could be so easily misled?

Now that he is gone he leaves behind a nothing but cardboard signs and bumper stickers slapped up on telephone poles and mailboxes around my city. That is his legacy. Soggy, limp, useless hunks of cardboard flapping about aimlessly in the wind and old fading stickers barely clinging to rusty lamp posts. Fitting. Now who the fuck is going to clean up this mess now that his idiot fans have receded back to the paranoia of their 9/11 conspiracy forums?

You could also write in that he didn’t want to aid the poor helpless people of Myanmar.

It’s easy to use soundbites to make him sound evil. I’ve come to realize that Dr. Paul is a very reasonable man. Unlike the majority of the people making or approving laws, he actually reads the full text and makes a competent decision with all the facts at hand.

Also, Dr. Paul is personally passionate about really only one thing - and that is Abortion. He is very pro-Life. I find that to be a minimal characteristic. The majority of the things that has voted no on in the past are things that people can and should be able to live without. You’re persecuting a guy for not wanting to put restrictions on your civil liberties.

All that crap that you listed about dog fighting, minimum wages, Cafe standards (?) are idiotic examples of nothing. These issues should be handled on a local level - not the federal level. Does that make sense to you? So if the cost of living is 3x more expensive in NYC than in the middle of Wyoming, why is it necessary to pay $7.25 in Wyoming? Business won’t be able to afford laborers. And more importantly, why is the Federal government trying to make decisions about how much employers in different states should pay their employees?

This article portrays the evident picture that you want the Federal Government to take care of you from conception to death, butt-wiping included. So, I understand why you wouldn’t like a candidate who promotes liberty and freedom.

I don’t know what you guys get out of smearing the name of a decent man. You can poke fun at his voting record with crap that doesn’t matter to anyone (Lets face it, the examples you gave are pathetic) but when you look at foresight on foreign and domestic issues and economic policy, Dr. Paul has been on the ball for years. You can’t deny it.

Before you start attacking his record and policies, please research what they are. Read his new book, too. At least understand the man before you get your marbles off denouncing him.

Oh, one more thing. When you start labeling people as Anti war hippies or potheads, it makes it seem like you are pro-war. That’s fine, but please keep in mind that the candidate who was most supported by our military was Dr. Paul. So, when you call his supporters names, you’re also labeling those very soldiers out there fighting your war.

In Vietnam, you called them baby-killers. Now they’re Kooks. Way to support your military. You may now remove that cheap yellow ribbon magnet from your bumper.

Open your mind. The world extends beyond your eyelids.

And there is one of his brainwashed fools now.

Let me break it down in easy to digest bits for you Bruno.

It’s easy to use soundbites to make him sound evil.

Well, those are not really “soundbites” now are they? It is just text. Text of his voting record. How is it out of bounds to knock this douchebag for how he voted? How should I judge his political career then? By his suit? His hair?

He is very pro-Life. I find that to be a minimal characteristic. The majority of the things that has voted no on in the past are things that people can and should be able to live without. You’re persecuting a guy for not wanting to put restrictions on your civil liberties.

      Except the liberties of women.

All that crap that you listed about dog fighting, minimum wages, Cafe standards (?) are idiotic examples of nothing.

You must not make minimum wage then. Or have a dog. Or even like animals. Also, how can you list CAFE standards when you don’t even know what it is? Just because you know nothing about it doesn’t mean it is an “example of nothing”. Your lack of knowledge doesn’t mean something doesn’t exist.

I don’t know what you guys get out of smearing the name of a decent man. You can poke fun at his voting record with crap that doesn’t matter to anyone (Lets face it, the examples you gave are pathetic)

Doesn’t matter to anyone? Pathetic? So a womans right to choose doesn’t matter? The AMBER alert system for missing kids doesn’t matter? Gay rights doesn’t matter?
      Good job there fanboy.

Before you start attacking his record and policies, please research what they are. Read his new book, too. At least understand the man before you get your marbles off denouncing him.

I did research them. I posted what they are in the main article. Why can’t I attack him on his record?
And, there is no way in hell that I am buying his book. Not a chance. Why would I give him any of my money? That would be stupid. How about this, you buy his book, send it to me and I promise that I will read it. If he somehow manages to change my mind I’ll send you the cash for it. Sounds fair to me.

…please keep in mind that the candidate who was most supported by our military was Dr. Paul. So, when you call his supporters names, you’re also labeling those very soldiers out there fighting your war.

Back that one up with some proof. Oh, and don’t even try to play the “why do you hate the troops” argument here. It doesn’t work. It only makes you look foolish.

In Vietnam, you called them baby-killers. Now they’re Kooks. Way to support your military. You may now remove that cheap yellow ribbon magnet from your bumper.

And there it is. The “you hate the troops” argument. How very Karl Rove of you.

Crap that doesn’t matter to anyone?

Did you read his record? Or just get as far as the “No” on animal fighting prohibition and stop reading?

I dunno, minimum wage, the Amber alert, the Kyoto Protocol (that’s related to helping the environment don’tcha know), research for alternative fuels, gay rights… all kinda sound important to me.

Bruno, claiming that Chuck would have been one of those people who called the returning soldiers baby-killers during the Vietnam era has earned you a special treat.

This treat is covered under FM 22-102. Back in the military we called it Wall-to-Wall couselling.

While I’m sure JAK can take care of it himself, I’d have to help, too. I’m ex-military, and I think Ron Paul is a nutjob that it took a special breed of moron to follow. People get stuck up on that pro-hemp BS that Chuck was talking about. Obama’s pro-legalization too, btw. Ron Paul tried to hide his bad voting record behind the guise of the underdog grassroots friend of the people, but he just wanted to put his oppression on other people like the rest of our politicians. Anti gay rights? Wow. That indeed is pathetic.
